THE CANON
Copyright 1997, Thorin Tatge

The Canonical levels are ten in number, one for each of the ten worlds. Six of these levels celebrate the six major tools: the slime can, the jackhammer, the pickaxe, the boss bomb, the befuddlement gas, and the snare. Another two, the eerie levels, are devoted to the intricacies of bombs and Mad Monks. Another is about luring, and one (the level bearing my initials) is just plain cool.
A menu level, The Shrine, contains doorways to all of the canonical levels, and each one leads back to the Shrine. The doorways are positioned in order, with the easier levels located on the top level, progressing in difficulty from left to right.

The following verses provide hints for these levels.

Death will not release you
--------------------------
Between the wall and exit door,
There lies a very fragile floor.
To pass it, you must free the souls
That you will need to fill the holes.

The Four Arms of Protection
--------------------------
A can of slime can help protect
A bomb whose blast is left unchecked.
It crumbles ceiling, floor and wall
But slime can block against them all.

Worshippers at the Infernal Temple of Ulari
-----------------------------------------
The rightmost snare is lots of fun
In simple steps of two and one.
But for the center puzzle you
Must execute a switcheroo.

The Airship
--------------------------
The first three monks were slyly fought
And one by one, they all were caught.
The fourth Mad Monk was kept alive
While Jake returned for Number Five.

The Mine
--------------------------
Heres what to use where tricks abound:
A shiny, shielding pickaxe mound!
To stand upon, or block a foe,
Or brace you when it's time to go.

The Blood Bowl
--------------------------
The only place its safe to sit
Will send me off into the pit.
And there Ill meet my end- but wait!
What if we were to lose the gate?

The Gashouse
--------------------------
The thing that a Mad Monk most dreads
Is standing on the others heads.
Youll have to gas one man out cold
While you go up and bomb the gold.

Retreat
--------------------------
With two snares set and nine in place,
Jake sprinted through the deadly race.
Nine hung helpless underground;
The tenth our hero slipped around.

The Cave of Time
--------------------------
You stand between your enemies;
Youre glad they chose that spot to freeze.
And if you used the can of tar,
The door will find you where you are.

Tribute to the Maker
--------------------------
To get the skull? Dont be a dunce.
You simply dig two paths at once.
As for the Ts, for timings sake,
You Must Be Careful What You Take!

			   Have fun!
